Exploring the nether is a dangerous endeavor, but even that can be made easy with a little preparation. So, today, we explain how to make fire resistance potions in Minecraft, so swimming in lava goes from death to an enjoyable dip.

Crafting a Brewing Stand

Brewing of any kind requires a brewing stand, which can be crafted with a row of three cobblestone below a blaze rod on a crafting table. To obtain a blaze rod, players will need to venture forth into the nether and find a nether fortress where mobs called blazes spawn. They are capable of shooting fire at range, so be prepared with a shield and fire protection armor to make approaching easier. Blazes will drop blaze rods fairly quickly, but we recommend staying and getting a few, as they are also a key component in powering the brewing process too.

Fire Resistance Potion Ingredients

1. Bottle of Water
2. Nether Wart
3. Magma Cream
4. Redstone

With a brewing stand in hand, it is now time to gather the ingredients the potion itself will require. While still in the nether from gathering blaze rods, be sure to grab nether wart from the nether fortress that was already found. If none is present, another nether fortress will need to be located as nether wart generates inside. After that, locate a basalt biome in the nether and slay magma slimes for magma cream, as they will be needed as well. Finally, after returning to the overworld, a glass bottle and some redstone will be the final items that need to be found. Glass bottles are crafted on a crafting table by placing a glass block on the left side of the middle row, the right side of the middle row, and the middle of the bottom row. After successfully crafting the glass bottles, be sure to fill them with water as well.

Brewing Fire Resistance Potions

Brewing a fire resistance potion is a six-step process which we have detailed below.

1. Set the brewing stand down.
2. Break down a blaze rod into blaze powder on a crafting table before placing blaze powder inside the brewing stand to power it.
3. Place up to three bottles of water inside.
4. Add nether wart to turn the bottles of water into awkward potions.
5. Add magma cream to turn the awkward potions into fire resistance potions.
6. Add redstone to turn the fire resistance potions into potions of fire resistance plus.

With that, the brewing process is done! To go even further with brewing, always remember that up to three potions can be made at once. This also saves on ingredients, which can be quite the hassle to find.
