How to Get Coal in 7 Days to Die

Coal is an easily farmable resource in 7 Days to Die. Zombie apocalypse survivors can find this material in various locations, particularly in various Coal Ore deposits throughout Navezgane. Additionally, Coal Ore gathering nodes can be seen above and underground. Search for dark boulders or rock formations, then use a Pickaxe on them to farm Coal. Alternatively, travel to the Burnt Forest biome (also available in the Random World Generator as of Version 1.0). Then, chop the burnt trees and wooden debris in this region to harvest Coal. It’s also possible to find Coal after defeating zombies, albeit rarely. You can also search inside containers in abandoned homes and certain points of interest (POIs) for this item.

Coal Crafting Recipes & Uses

At the time of writing, Coal is primarily used as an ingredient for three crafting recipes in 7 Days to Die. The items you can craft using this resource are the following:

Gunpowder

• Requirements: N/A
• Required Materials: 2x Nitrate Powder and 2x Coal (if crafting by hand) or 1x Nitrate Powder and 1x Coal (if crafting using the Chemistry Station)
• Workstation: By hand or the Chemistry Station

Pure Mineral Water

• Requirements: Unlock the recipe by reading Wasteland Treasures Vol. 4
• Required Materials: 1x Water, 1x Coal, 1x Goldenrod Flower, and 1x Chrysanthemum Flower
• Workstation: Campfire

Wheel

• Requirements: Unlock the recipe by reading at least 5x Vehicle Adventures and by having the Grease Monkey skill
• Required Materials: 2x Forged Iron, 16x Scrap Polymers, 2x Oil, 10x Coal, and 1x Bottle of Acid
