Where to Find the Ancient Fire Sanctuary in Windrose

These unmissable locations are part of the “Needle in a Haystack” main questline, which eventually leads to the fight against this biome’s boss, Israel Hands. Since Windrose procedurally generates each map, no Ancient Fire Sanctuary location is completely alike. Nonetheless, search for the campfire-like icon on the map when the “Search the camp near the ruins” objective appears in your quest journal.

Ancient Fire Sanctuary Puzzle Solution

Note: Image courtesy of TroubleChute Basics. First, clear each Ancient Fire Sanctuary of enemies before attempting to solve the puzzle. Doing so should eliminate potential threats and hindrances preventing you from moving forward. Next, pay attention to where you’re walking, as some floors crumble upon stepping on them. In particular, stay away from the crumbly-looking floors, as they’ll give way as soon as a human-sized player stands on them. As with the map’s layout, the architecture of each Ancient Fire Sanctuary in Windrose may differ for each world seed. Nonetheless, the ruin’s design should still be fairly similar when compared to other worlds, making the solution provided in this guide relevant regardless of the world seed. Note that your objective in the Ancient Fire Sanctuary is to interact with an abandoned campsite. However, solving the puzzle rewards you with precious loot. Solving this puzzle requires you to open a large door at the center of the area, which needs four lit Firebowls. With that, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to complete the Ancient Fire Sanctuary puzzle in Windrose and grab every loot in it:

• 1. Travel to the western part of the Ancient Fire Sanctuary to find a staircase.
• 2. Walk down the staircase to find a Heavy Vase. Lift and place it on a nearby pressure plate.
• 3. Enter the newly opened door and walk down the flight of stairs that leads to the Ancient Fire Sanctuary’s underground area.
• 4. Jump to the platform to the right, and face the center.
• 5. Run and jump to the broken pillar at the center, and jump again to reach the platform across your original position.
• 6. Grab the first Firebowl on the wall, and walk to the bottom floor of this underground area.
• 7. Drop the first Firebowl next to any available Brazier, which should automatically light it.
• 8. Search the nearby area for the second Firebowl atop a Brazier and light it as well.
• 9. Return to the surface through the staircase on the other side of the room, destroying Thorn Bushes along the way.
• 10. Destroy more Thorn Bushes until you reach a pressure plate near a wall.
• 11. Enter the small room nearby and grab the Heavy Vase. Place the object on the nearby pressure plate to open the adjacent door.
• 12. Enter the room and grab the loot from the Ancient Chest within.
• 13. Navigate to the center area, and grab the Heavy Vase on top of a small flight of stairs.
• 14. Place the Heavy Vase on the nearby pressure plate in the center area to open the door at the top of the small staircase.
• 15. Go through the newly opened door and grab the loot from the Ancient Chest.
• 16. Grab the third Firebowl next to the Ancient Chest, and drop down until you reach the underground area.
• 17. Place the Firebowl near one of the available Braziers to automatically light it.
• 18. Return to the surface and head to the area where you destroyed a bunch of Thorn bushes.
• 19. Enter the nearby room to find the fourth and last Firebowl.
• 20. Bring the Firebowl to the bottom of the underground area, and place it next to the last available Brazier.
• 21. With the four Firebowls lit, the door to the center area of the underground region of the Ancient Fire Sanctuary should open.
• 22. Enter the room and grab the loot from the large Ancient Chest inside.

Tip: Completing this puzzle is faster and easier with friends in a Windrose multiplayer server, since each player can focus on grabbing and placing one of the four Firebowls.
