Minecraft Live 2025 Wrap Up: Announcements, Happy Ghasts, & More

Minecraft Live 2025 has come to a close, but not without giving us an exciting look at all that 2025 still holds! So, today, we explore everything that was announced in our Minecraft Live 2025 wrap up.
Releasing March 25, the Spring to Life game drop includes all the exciting features tested in snapshots over the past few months, including pig, cow, and chicken variants, firefly bushes, and immersive blocks such as leaf litter. A stated goal of this game drop was to make biomes feel more different from each other while also increasing immersion.
When exploring the Spring to Life game drop firsthand, be sure to keep an eye and ear out for sounds and motion as well. Leaves now fall from trees, and ambient sounds have been added for sand blocks, firefly bushes, and more. The developers hope that this will allow players to incorporate sounds into their builds as well.
This portion of Minecraft Live was then tied together by an animation made by Element Animation, featuring a Wandering Trader checking out all the Spring to Life game drop’s features. We will have the video embedded above as soon as it is uploaded!
After Spring to Life was shown, Emma Myers, who plays Natalie in A Minecraft Movie, made an appearance to talk about her role, love of Minecraft, and experiences on set. During this, we saw an exclusive look at the main characters stepping into a Minecraft Village for the first time, followed by the announcement of a Minecraft movie event server coming March 25.
The Minecraft Movie Event server will feature multiple minigames and have quests associated with them. Completing all of the quests will grant a permanent and exclusive Minecraft Movie cape.
Next, the Vibrant Visuals update was both announced and shown for Bedrock Edition. This update will add built-in dynamic shaders for vanilla Minecraft that are entirely local, allowing them to be used as desired both in single-player and online.
Key features that separated Vibrant Visuals update from other shaders was a focus on immersion, with light actively passing through windows, reflecting on water, and real-time shadows properly matching pixels. Vanilla textures are also updated while Vibrant Visuals is enabled, adding glowing eyes to mobs and glowing pixels to blocks, making places like lush caverns and Ancient Cities as beautiful and creepy as can be.
No release date was shared for Vibrant Visuals, but it will be coming to Bedrock Edition first, with plans for Java Edition to receive it down the line.
Finally, we received an early look at the Dried Ghast block from a currently unnamed game drop. The dried ghast block will generate as part of the Nether’s soul sand valley biome and can be found near bone structures. Its default appearance is grey with a frowning face, almost like that of an odd-looking skull, and it is one block in size.
After gathering the block, it can be brought to the overworld where, if placed in water, it will slowly get some much-needed moisture, going from sad to neutral to happy before ultimately becoming a ghastling. The ghastling is a new baby variant of happy ghasts that will fly about curiously exploring its environment and nearby players. Ghastlings are tempted by snowballs and can be fed to increase the rate at which they grow similar to other baby animals. After some time, or many snowballs, ghastlings grow into happy ghasts, Minecraft’s latest mob.
Happy ghasts are a smiling variant of ghast that serve as Minecraft’s very first flying mount. However, they require a harness to be placed on their head before players can hop on. Harnesses are crafted using three leather, two glass blocks, and one wool block, with the color of the wool dictating the harness’s color.
Once a harness is placed on a happy ghast, up to four players can ride. Additionally, dismounting a happy ghast at any height places you on top of its head. The head of happy ghasts act as a solid platform from which you can build or move about. Happy ghasts are tempted by snowballs, but whether they can be bred was not confirmed.
