Minecraft Furniture Guide: Minecraft Cushions, Build Hacks, & More
Publicado em por
A house without furniture can hardly be called a home, but thankfully Minecraft has more than a few options to ensure yours is as cozy as can be. So, today, we explore all the furniture vanilla Minecraft has to offer alongside some furniture build hacks in our Minecraft furniture guide.
Despite the many blocks added over the years, few among them are traditional furniture such as tables, couches, and chairs. This is an intentional design choice. Mojang has long held the stance that adding such blocks stifles the creativity of players, so any furniture that is added usually comes with some sort of mechanical purpose for it being there. Some view this stance as having gradually changed with the addition of shelves and cushions, but we will just have to wait and see.
While they may lack the ability to actually sit on them, stairs and half slabs have long since served as Minecraft’s chairs. Some players expand upon this by adding signs on either side to form armrests, while others go even further by adding doors to the back for a backrest. In more recent years, plank half slabs with shelves as the armrests and trap doors or doors as the backrests have become popular too. Already we are seeing players apply these creative ideas to cushions to make them chairs as well.
The addition of scaffolding did wonders for not only building but interior decorating! One scaffolding with carpet or an item frame on top results in a near-perfect-looking table. Those using item frames can even have an item appear as though it is laying on top.
Similar to the idea of chairs, placing three or two plank blocks with shelf blocks along the front and trap doors on either side creates a dresser with plenty of space for items like candles to sit on top. Sadly, nothing can actually be stored in it, but having an armor stand next to it can provide the implication.
By creatively combining trap doors of various kinds, functional shelving for individual blocks can be made. Blocks that do not take up an entire cube often look best on it, such as oxidized copper golems and dragon heads.
Finally, we have sinks, bathtubs, and water basins created with waterlogged stairs. To waterlog a block, simply shift-right-click it with a bucket of water after being placed. Any space that would otherwise contain air now contains water, which, when placed against a wall or combined with other stairs, creates the illusions of blocks meant to store water.
What we covered here today only scratches the surface of what Minecraft’s many creative minds have come up with over the years. For more ideas like those showcased, we recommend the subreddits Minecraft Furniture and Detail Craft. YouTube is also a great source, offering many “build hack” compilations like the one above. As more is discovered, the more detailed every future build can become.
