What is the Doomed To Fall Death Message in Minecraft?

Minecraft doomed to fall Introduced in snapshot 13w05a, the doomed to fall message in Minecraft typically appears when a player dies from falling from a height greater than five blocks. But it can also trigger when a player takes damage before falling. This death message will then change slightly depending on the main cause of death.

<player> was doomed to fall

This death message appears when a player takes environmental damage that isn’t void damage before dying from falling from a height greater than five blocks. This message won’t appear if an entity pushes the player from a cliff or ledge.

<player> was doomed to fall by <player/mob>

This death message appears when a player takes damage caused by any entity, resulting in a fatal fall. By entity, it means any player, mob, object, or in-game element that lead to the fall. Some examples of in-game entities are:
  • Arrows
  • Trident
  • Fireballs
  • Firework Rockets
  • TNTs
  • Falling blocks
  • Lightning bolts
  • Thrown snowballs
  • Eggs
  • Wither skulls
  • Shulker bullets
  • Llama spits

<player> was doomed to fall by <player/mob> using <item>

This “doomed to fall” message appears in the chat box if a player takes direct or indirect damage by a player or mob using a named item, which leads to a fatal fall. Note: Administrators can remove death messages, including the “doomed to fall” variants, from appearing in the chat box using the command “showDeathMessages” (without the quotes). Minecraft Server
