Core Keeper: Glurch the Abominous Mass Boss Guide

Introduced in version 0.3.0, Core Keeper’s Glurch the Abominous Mass is a giant, orange slime with a core in an opening. Its larger-than-normal size for a slime makes it an ominous presence, especially for beginners.

Location

Glurch the Abominous Mass lives in Core Keeper’s Dirt biome. You’ll know when you’re near this large, gelatinous figure when the screen shakes. The shakes should become fiercer as you get closer to the boss. Eventually, you’ll find its arena and the boss in it.

Behavior

Glurch is still a slime at heart. That means that it’ll try to ram any nearby player. But this one-trick pony’s attacks become fiercer when its health drops to 30%. Its size and weight also make it possible to destroy structures in its wake. So, you can’t hide behind walls and other objects to protect yourself from the boss’ attacks.

Combat Strategy

Buff yourself with defense- and offense-enhancing potions once you see Glurch the Abominous on your screen. Thankfully, the boss won’t attack if you’re farther than five tiles from it. Also, equip the best gear you have before going near Glurch. If you’re still early into the game, having a full copper gear set (at least) for this fight is ideal. Also, don’t be greedy with your strikes, especially if using a melee weapon. Otherwise, you’ll be on the receiving end of its squishy yet harmful body. Pace yourself throughout the fight. Also, watch your surroundings because you don’t want to become locked into a corner while Glurch approaches you.
