ARK: Survival Evolved isn’t only about defeating random dinosaurs and harvesting as many materials as possible. You can progress through the game by killing the game’s various bosses. In particular, one boss to defeat in ARK is Broodmother Lysrix, which you can find on The Island and The Center maps.

Broodmother Lysrix Location and Tribute Requirements

Before version 239.0, you can locate the Broodmother Lysrix walking on the overworld. After that patch, you can now find the Broodmother Arena underneath the green Obelisk. The coordinates for this structure on the maps that have it are:

• The Island: 58.9, 72.3
• The Center: 60, 30

Once here, you must offer specific items to open the portal. Note that the number of certain items changes depending on the boss’ level.

• Argentavis Talon: 0 for level 30, 5 for level 50, 10 for level 70
• Artifact of the Clever: 1 across all levels
• Artifact of the Hunter: 1 across all levels
• Artifact of the Massive: 1 across all levels
• Sarcosuchus Skin: 0 for level 30, 5 for level 50, 10 for level 70
• Sauropod Vertebra: 0 for level 30, 5 for level 50, 10 for level 70
• Titanoboa Venom: 0 for level 30, 5 for level 50, 10 for level 70

Once opened, the portal will teleport everything within its summoning radius, including your character, to the arena.

Stats and Growth

Players should be aware that the stats of the Gamma, Beta, and Alpha variants of the Broodmother Lysrix in ARK: Survival Evolve are different. Also, it’s important to mention that the Gamma and Beta versions of this boss are slower than the Alpha variant. Below are the stats and growth numbers for Broodmother Lysrix variants on The Island:

Combat Strategy

Broodmother Lysrix is stronger than the Megapithecus but weaker than the Dragon. However, it has fewer rewards than those other creatures. Nonetheless, fighting the Broodmother will be the first ARK boss to progress in lore order. Bringing tamed creatures in this fight will significantly boost your chances of defeating the Broodmother. But your likelihood of success can increase even further by bringing the right tames. Here are some recommended creatures to bring in this fight:

• The Yutyrannus for its stats and roar ability
• Shadowmanes for the buff from their roars, which can also stack with the roar from the Yutyrannus
• Multiple Megatherium for their increased damage when fighting insects
• A Rex for its superb combat ability and damage
• About six Stegosaurus to tank the damage from the Broodmother

Apart from these creatures, you can also bring a Procoptodon in this boss fight. That way, you can jump onto that dinosaur’s mushroom, and shoot the Broodmother with range weapons. Note that this particular strategy may not be effective when fighting the boss’ Alpha variant.
