Generally, players must rely on RNG to gather Clay in Stardew Valley. Thankfully, the game offers different methods to obtain this essential material.

Artifact Spots

Artifact spots in Stardew Valley are the three worm-like objects sticking out of the ground. Use your hoe to dig the item lying underneath. Note that digging up these patches guarantees that you’ll get an item. However, it doesn’t mean you’ll get Clay each time you dig from an artifact spot. Other items you may obtain from artifact spots include (but aren’t limited to) the following:

• Copper Ore
• Coal

Geodes

Breaking rocks in the Mines will sometimes reward you with Geodes. These items are mineral deposits you can open at the Blacksmith or Geode Crusher.
