Unlike the Breach and Clear Update, which focused on gameplay changes, the Rust October 2026 wipe will introduce new features. As Staging Branch players can already see, this update shifts away from pure survival. Expect livestock, expanded farming systems, and upgraded consumables.

Rust October 2026 Wipe Date

The Rust October 2026 Update is expected to release on Thursday, October 1, 2026, following Facepunch’s established first-Thursday monthly update schedule. The monthly event should occur at about 19:00 UTC (2:00 PM EST / 11:00 AM PT). A forced wipe is expected to accompany the update, giving players on affected Rust servers a clean slate to explore the new content, features, and systems.

What’s New in the Rust October 2026 Wipe?

The current feature list is heavily based on discoveries from the Rust Staging Branch. Most, if not all, of these inclusions should be included in the October 2026 update when the servers go live after the wipe. For starters, arguably the headline feature is livestock husbandry. It introduces domesticated animals that players can acquire, raise, transport, breed, and eventually trade. These animals include cows, bulls, sheep, and lambs. Players can discover livestock in the world or purchase young animals from vendors at Ranches and Large Barns. Caring for livestock provides a sustainable means of farming specific resources, such as milk, wool, meat, and leather. The addition of livestock into Rust also feeds directly into the game’s cooking and brewing systems. For instance, players can combine milk and cream with existing teas to create milky and creamy variants. Milky teas provide additional calories and hydration while also extending the item’s base duration. Creamy versions, on the other hand, improve base effects, albeit shortening the buff’s period. This update also introduces Rich Pies, which add cream to existing pie recipes for stronger effects. Doing so adds extra importance to chef roles, allowing players to choose alternative survival options while staying on the island. The October update also expands the Power Plant Heavy Fuse system introduced in the Power Trip Update. Players can take advantage of new bonus loot rooms accessible while maintaining the monument’s different phases. These rooms can be found in other monuments, including the Launch Site, Missile Silo, and Water Treatment Plant. The Rust October 2026 server wipe also includes other smaller additions and refreshes. There’s the Biofuel Generator, which can convert excess agricultural materials and animal byproducts into Low Grade Fuel, as well as new achievements to encourage players to interact with the new features and systems.
