The Bigger & Boulder Update, or Terraria 1.4.5, is one of the biggest overhauls the game has received in years. This major patch introduced over 600 new items to the game, which include some of the game’s best weapons available today! So, let’s dive into some of the best weapons introduced in Terraria 1.4.5 to help you choose which one to use for your specific build.

Top 10 Best Weapons in Terraria 1.4.5 Ranked Tier List

Terraria Best Weapon 1-4-5 The following weapons are seen as the best options introduced in the Terraria 1.4.5 Update. However, don’t let this list derail you from using your preferred weapon. Instead, allow the following options to become starting points to help you decide which weapon to use in your adventures in the Bigger & Boulder Update.

10. Starcrash

Terraria Starcrash
  • How to Get: Craft using 20x Meteorite Bar, 10x Chain, and 10x Fallen Star at the Iron or Lead Anvil.

Stats

  • Damage Type: Summon
  • Base Damage: 18
  • Knockback: 1.5
  • Rarity: Green
The Starcrash is a pre-Hardmode whip and one of the new weapons introduced in the Terraria 1.4.5 Update. Despite lacking in sheer firepower, the Starcrash is a great weapon for summoners who are still starting out. Its additional effect summons a meteor to marked enemies, dealing additional damage. Although it’s not as powerful as other weapons with similar effects, especially when compared to the Constellation, its usefulness in dealing with enemies in different combat scenarios shouldn’t be dismissed.

9. Barnacle Staff

Terraria Barnacle Staff
  • How to Get: Fish from a body of water on the surface layer of the Hardmode Jungle biome.

Stats

  • Damage Type: Summon
  • Base Damage: 33
  • Knockback: 7.5
  • Rarity: Light Red
The Barnacle Staff may not look like much, but its summoned sentry can still pack a punch. Once summoned, the sentry fires poison darts onto enemies, dealing damage over time for about 5 to 10 seconds. Although it seems short, the Barnacle sentry can repeatedly fire its toxins onto the same enemy, refreshing the debuff timer each time, enhancing overall DPS. However, prepare to rely on RNG if you plan to get this weapon, as it requires you to fish it out of water in the Jungle biome in Hardmode. Nonetheless, consider yourself lucky if you’re able to get this weapon in a few minutes.

8. Flint

Terraria Flint
  • How to Get: Craft using 24x Any Adamantite Bar and 20x Hellstone Bar at the Adamantite or Titanium Forge.

Stats

  • Damage Type: Melee
  • Base Damage: 70
  • Knockback: 5
  • Critical Hit Chance: 4%
  • Rarity: Light Red
Grounded battles became more interesting in Terraria 1.4.5 than before with the help of the Flint. This Hardmode hammer shoots a wave of fire onto the ground with each charged swing. The wave also passes through all enemies until it dissipates. It’s a great offensive tool during early pre-Hardmode combat scenarios. However, the wave only travels on fairly flat surfaces and doesn’t appear when swinging the hammer midair. Although limited in its usability, the Flint still serves as one of the best weapons in Terraria 1.4.5, albeit as a secondary option.

7. Foxparks

Terraria Foxparks
  • How to Get: Randomly find and save on the surface layers of the Grass, Jungle, Snow, or Ice biomes in the daytime.

Stats

  • Damage Type: Summon
  • Base Damage: 20
  • Knockback: 3
  • Rarity: Light Red
Foxparks is one of the Pals that crossed dimensions from Palworld in the Terraria 1.4.5 Update. Although lacking in firepower (no pun intended), it steals a spot in this list of the best weapons on Terraria 1.4.5 with its utility. Apart from it acting as a standard minion in Terraria, you can pick it up and use its Huggy Fire Partner Skill. Do so, and Foxparks acts as a living flamethrower. Enemies hit with Foxparks’ flames will also suffer from the On Fire! debuff for five to ten seconds, dealing additional damage over time.

6. Constellation

Terraria Constellation
  • How to Get: Craft using 18x Stardust Fragment at the Ancient Manipulator.

Stats

  • Damage Type: Summon
  • Base Damage: 130
  • Knockback: 4
  • Rarity: Red
The Constellation is one of the new whips introduced in Update 1.4.5, and it also has one of the highest damage capabilities when compared to other options in this weapon category. However, it doesn’t score high in this list of the best weapons in Terraria 1.4.5 because of the difficulty in getting the materials needed to craft it. Nonetheless, once crafted, the Constellation whip can serve a summoner fairly well. For starters, enemies marked with this whip get hit with Shooting Stars. Additionally, each Shooting Star deals 33% of the whip’s listed damage, letting you obliterate any enemy you come across.

5. Killing Deck

Terraria Killing Deck
  • How to Get: Purchased from the Wizard NPC for 20x Gold during a Blood Moon.

Stats

  • Damage Type: Magic
  • Base Damage: 22
  • Mana: 8
  • Knockback: 5
  • Critical Hit Chance: 4%
  • Rarity: Light Red
The Killing Deck is one of the more unique weapons Update 1.4.5 introduced to Terraria. As one of the weapons included with the Dead Cells collaboration, this Hardmode weapon is great for Terraria magicians, wizards, or any build with a large mana pool. Each tap of the attack button lets you throw a different number of cards. The first click is a one-card throw. Tap the attack button twice to throw two cards. Finally, use Killing Deck for the third time in succession launches a spread of six cards. Additionally, all the cards stay on the field and will automatically return after about five seconds.

4. Possession

Terraria Possession
  • How to Get: Has a chance to drop as loot from defeating the Moon Lord.

Stats

  • Damage Type: Summon
  • Base Damage: 110
  • Summon Tag Damage: 2%
  • Summon Tag Critical Hit Chace: 10%
  • Knockback: 4
  • Rarity: Red
Have you ever wondered what it would feel like if tentacles grew out of your person to attack enemies? Now, you can one of the new, and best, whips in Terraria 1.4.5 – the Possession. Each press of the attack button launches four tentacles that hit and pass through multiple enemies. Additionally, a hit from this whip can mark an enemy. If a summoned minion or sentry hits a marked foe, the whip spawns a vision around that being. Then, said vision fires a beam, dealing 20 additional damage.

3. Phasesabers

Terraria Phasesabers
  • How to Get: Craft using a Phaseblade with 25x Crystal Shard at the Mythril or Orichalcum Anvil.

Stats

  • Damage Type: Melee
  • Base Damage: 50
  • Knockback: 3
  • Critical Hit Chance: 4%
  • Rarity: Light Red
The Hardmode Phasesabers are the direct upgrade to the pre-Hardmode Phaseblades. These updated broadswords have nearly double the base damage modifiers as their pre-Hardmode counterparts. However, the gimmick remains the same, wherein the wielder can throw a Phasesaber by holding the Attack button and recalling it using the same keybind. Although falling short in overall attack prowess, Phasesabers can still do wonders when dealing with multiple enemy groups at once. If you’re a player with accurate aim, throwing a Phasesaber to go through multiple foes and recalling it grants several damage opportunities. Time to use the Force, and unleash your inner master of the mystic space arts with this blade.

2. Axearang

Terraria Axearang
  • How to Get: Throw the Axe of Regrowth into Shimmer.

Stats

  • Damage Type: Melee
  • Base Damage: 20
  • Axe Power: 150%
  • Knockback: 5
  • Rarity: Light Red
The Axearang isn’t one of the most powerful melee weapons in Terraria 1.4.5, but it’s still one of the best in its class, thanks to its utility. Particularly, throwing the Axearang makes tree cutting an absolute breeze. Conveniently, it automatically returns after reaching its maximum distance. Ultimately, it’s a must-have tool when building homes for your NPCs.

1. True Copper Short Sword

Terraria True Copper Short Sword
  • How to Get: Throw the Zenith into Shimmer.

Stats

  • Damage Type: Melee
  • Base Damage: 190
  • Knockback: 6.5
  • Critical Hit Chance: 14%
  • Rarity: Red
What started as a meme among members of the Terraria community turned into a reality with Update 1.4.5. The True Copper Short Sword is the Shimmer counterpart to what is arguably the best melee weapon in the game – Zenith. With that, the True Copper Short Sword shares the same stats and effects as the Zenith. The only difference between these two weapons is the appearance. At 190 base damage, it boils down to a matter of preference if you choose the sword’s original aesthetic or the meme sword. Note: Throwing the True Copper Short Sword into Shimmer will separate it to the swords used as ingredients to create the Zenith.
