Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem: Release Date, Patch Notes, New Features, How to Play Now, & More

Another game drop is already on its way, leaving many excited fans, ourselves included, eager to play. So, today, we explore the Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem release date, its first snapshot, and the features it will contain.
While a specific Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem release date has not yet been revealed, it was confirmed during Minecraft Live that the game drop would be coming out “later this year.”
That means no more than a few months’ time, as it is already October. As soon as the official dates are released, we will have them listed here!
Speculation: The previous winter game drop came out on December 3rd. If we were to make a guess, “later this year” would likely mean around that time again.
The spear is the first weapon since the sword to be introduced for every resource tier, which means a variant for stone, copper, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite. It is crafted using two sticks and one cobblestone, ingot, or diamond. The spear has two attacks, both detailed below:
The nautilus is a new passive mob based on the real-world sea creature that spawns in any ocean biome. They can eat any fish, but are tempted, tamed, and bred using pufferfish. Once tamed, a saddle can be placed on their shells, allowing them to serve as fast underwater mounts. While mounted, they grant the “Breath of the Nautilus” buff, which provides underwater breathing that lasts until the nautilus is dismounted, and have a dash ability players can use.
Zombie nautilus only spawn as part of a nautilus jockey, which is a trident-wielding drowned riding a zombie nautilus. Like the nautilus, they can be found in any ocean biome and mounted if their drowned rider is defeated. As a mount, they function the same as a living nautilus, minus the ability to breed or enter sunlight.
Zombie horses only spawn as part of a zombie horseman, which is a spear-wielding zombie on a zombie horse. They can be found in plains and savanna biomes, and like the zombie nautilus, they can become mounts once their zombie rider is defeated. As a mount, they function the same as a living horse, minus the ability to breed or enter sunlight. Zombie horses have been in Java Edition for quite some time but were only accessible via commands.
Nautilus armor functions much like horse armor, with confirmed variants for every resource tier up to diamond. They can be found in the loot of shipwrecks, ocean ruins, and buried treasure. Diamond nautilus armor can be upgraded to netherite armor using a smithing table as well.
The Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem snapshot is not yet public, but it is expected to drop within the next month. To be ready, the steps below can be used to create a snapshot profile that will update as soon as the snapshot is released, allowing you to jump right into the game:
