Faction reputation in Windrose is all about exchanging certain items with specific NPCs to unlock coveted items. Increase the Reputation Level of a particular faction to buy items ranging from ship blueprints to top-tier armor pieces. This guide breaks down the different factions in Windrose, allowing you to choose which group should be receiving your insignias.

How to Increase Reputation Levels for Windrose Factions

Oftentimes, clearing pirate camps and sinking or boarding ships reward insignias. Exchange these items for Bounty Agents of each faction located in Tortuga. At the time of writing, Windrose Early Access has four factions:

Brethren of the Coast
People of Tortuga
Rogue Buccaneers
Smugglers of Port Royal

Reputation level for each faction begins at Level 1. Giving insignias to Bounty Agents provides Reputation Points. Increasing a faction’s reputation level unlocks additional items for that merchant’s shop. Different insignias exist in Windrose that provide increasingly higher Reputation Points when given to Bounty Agents. These insignias and the Reputation Points earned are as follows:

Newhand Insignia: 1x Reputation Point
Deckhand Insignia: 4x Reputation Point
Veteran Insignia: 20x Reputation Point
Old Salt Insignia: 80x Reputation Point

Apart from insignias, Windrose players may also exchange Letters of Favor (acquired from side quests) for Reputation Points. Note that trading 1x Letter of Favor only yields 10x Reputation Point, making Veteran and Old Salt Insignias better options for increasing faction levels. Nonetheless, some side quests reward players with multiple Letters of Favor. For instance, completing the Catastrophe’s Aftermath side quests yields 10x Letter of Favor, which equates to +100 Reputation Points when exchanged with your preferred Bounty Agent. Additionally, all factions in Windrose share the same Reputation Point requirements, which are the following:

Reputation Level 1: 0 Reputation Points required
Reputation Level 2: 100 Reputation Points required
Reputation Level 3: 300 Reputation Points required
Reputation Level 4: 600 Reputation Points required

Remember, no additional benefits or disadvantages exist when choosing to increase the Reputation Level of one faction over another. Still, some factions are worth focusing on more than others. For instance, increasing the Reputation Level of the Rogue Buccaneers faction grants the player access to cannon blueprints for their ships. Alternatively, increasing the Reputation Level of the Smugglers of Port Royal faction allows players in a Windrose server to exchange their hard-earned Piastres for two components of the Pikeman’s Armor set, one of the best armor sets in Windrose.
