Following Paws & Claws, the next update for Core Keeper will be called Shimmering Frontier. Aside from the new biome, players will encounter new enemies and experience new features, such as the new Roofing Gadget. So, without further ado, here’s a quick overview of Core Keeper’s upcoming update and when you'll get to try it out.

Core Keeper Shimmering Frontier Release Date

It's official! The Core Keeper Shimmering Frontier Update will be released on October 4. This major content patch is a free update, which should automatically alert players when it drops. Gain a glimpse into this update by watching the trailer here or reading up more on its features below!

What’s New in the Core Keeper Shimmering Frontier Update?

Previously known as the Crystal Biome patch, the Core Keeper Shimmering Frontier Update brings a new biome for players to explore. This additional location comes with extra perks and dangers in every corner, like the crystal-mimicking Mimites.

New Biome

Players can voyage deep within Core Keeper’s subterranean world into a new crystal-based biome. Here, mine the new Solarite ore and use it to craft new equipment based on that mineral. Some items you can craft with this new ore include a Sword, Crossbow, Mining Pick, and Fishing Rod.

New Enemies

Aside from the crystal-mimicking Mimite, expect to encounter other enemies in the Shimmering Frontier Update of Core Keeper. Other creatures to bump into and perhaps defeat are the Nilipede and Crystal Snail. There’s also a new optional boss called the Atlantean Worm, and you can find (and hopefully defeat) it in the Sunken Sea biome.

Roofing Gadget

Are you looking for a way to shine more light into your encampment? Use the new Roofing Gadget, and it’ll poke holes into the ceiling, creating beams of sunlight.

Upgrade Station

Gear upgrades will arrive in Core Keeper through the new Upgrade Station. Use it to enhance your favorite weapons and tools, especially the new ones like the Razor Flake, Shard Club, and Slime Staff.

Other Additions

Apart from the new features mentioned above, here are other things to expect with the Shimmering Frontier Update:

• Mine ores and destroys walls quickly with the Obliteration Ray
• Interact with the new Crystal Merchant to discover and buy new items
• New battle events and other combat scenarios complete with rewards
• Over 50 new armor and equipment, such as the life-leeching Larva Fang Necklace
• Quality of life improvements, including enhanced water physics and performance optimizations
