Navezgane is a large map spanning over 36 square kilometers. This massive expanse can tire out even the most resilient survivor, especially when trying to explore this zombie-ridden world on two legs. That’s why securing reliable transportation isn’t only a luxury but also an imperative tool for survival. So, let us help you choose the right vehicle in 7 Days to Die through this guide, ranging from the humble bicycle to the soaring gyrocopter.

7 Days to Die Vehicles: An Overview

7 Days to Die Vehicle Guide Make no mistake, as the world of Navezgane and its randomly generated counterparts are vast. Walking can be a death sentence in the late game, as undead hordes swarm players when they least expect them. Use vehicles not only to dramatically reduce travel time but also to provide crucial protection and storage. Vehicle progression is tied to the “Grease Monkey” perk and the “Vehicle Adventure” magazines. In particular, consuming these reading materials increases the level of this perk. Doing so unlocks various advantageous effects for the specific vehicles you can use to explore Navezgane. Below are the different levels of the Grease Monkey perk, along with their benefits:
  • Bicycle Mechanic (Level 1): Your passion to tinker and not walk everywhere has led you on the path of the bicycle mechanic. Craft wheels and bicycle parts 33% cheaper. Repair kits are 10% more effective on vehicles.
  • Minibike Master (Level 2): Why pedal everywhere when there is enough junk lying around to make a minibike? Craft minibike parts 33% cheaper. Repair kits are 20% more effective on vehicles.
  • Motorcycle Maniac (Level 3): It was only a matter of time before going faster and carrying more gear was a necessity. Craft motorcycle parts 33% cheaper. Repair kits are 30% more effective on vehicles.
  • Truck Nut (Level 4): Nothing beats the safety and warmth of a nice 4x4 truck. Craft 4x4 truck parts 33% cheaper. Repair kits are 40% more effective on vehicles.
  • Avionics Wizard (Level 5): Your tinkering desire is never satisfied, and only a true genius could figure out how to take to the skies with scrap iron. Craft gyrocopter parts 33% cheaper. Repair kits are 50% more effective on vehicles.
Additionally, each vehicle in 7 Days to Die has distinct functions that set it apart from others. Nonetheless, these means of transportation generally use common controls to reduce friction when switching between different wheeled options. With that, the basic controls of using vehicles in 7 Days to Die are as follows:
  • Forward: W
  • Reverse: S
  • Left: A
  • Right: D
  • Turbo: Left Shift
  • Barke/Gyro Pitch Up: Space
  • Hop/Gyro Pitch Down: C
  • Honk Horn: X
  • Menu: Esc
  • Switch Steering Mode: Left mouse button
  • Camera Zoom+: Mousewheel +
  • Camera Zoom-: Mousewheel –

All Drivable Vehicles in 7 Days to Die

Bicycle
7 Days to Die Bicycle
  • How to Craft: Use 2x Wheel, 1x Bicycle Chassis, 1x Bicycle Handlebars, and 1x Mechanical Parts by hand or at the Workbench.
It’s safe to say that every survivor begins their vehicle journey in 7 Days to Die with the bicycle. It’s also typically obtained as a reward after completing Tier 1 trader quests, making it an accessible mode of transportation within the first few in-game days. Although not as fast as other vehicles, the bicycle’s greatest asset is its silence. Since it doesn’t generate engine noise, you can approach POIs without alerting every zombie in the vicinity.
Stats
  • Storage Slots: 9
  • Vehicle Speed: 5 blocks per second
  • Vehicle Sprint Speed: 10 blocks per second
  • Seats: 1
  • Durability: 700
Minibike
7 Days to Die Minibike
  • How to Craft: Use 2x Wheel, 1x Minibike Chassis, 1x Minibike Handlebars, 1x Engine, and 1x Lead Car Battery at the Workbench.
The minibike is the survivor’s introduction to gasoline-powered travel in Navezgane. It offers a modest speed boost over the bicycle. However, it offers 3x as many storage slots as its human-powered counterpart. Nonetheless, the minibike is often seen as an incremental upgrade rather than a massive improvement. Although it’s slightly faster, doesn’t use stamina, and has larger cargo space, some players may want to consider skipping it and focus on the motorcycle, if possible.
Stats
  • Storage Slots: 27
  • Vehicle Speed: 9 blocks per seconds
  • Vehicle Sprint Speed: 9 blocks per seconds
  • Seats: 1
  • Armor Rating: 90
  • Mod Slots: 3
  • Durability: 2,000
Motorcycle
7 Days to Die Motorcycle
  • How to Craft: Use 2x Wheel, 1x Motorcycle Chassis, 1x Motorcycle Handlebars, 1x Engine, and 1x Lead Car Battery at the Workbench.
Many players may argue that the motorcycle in 7 Days to Die is at a sweet spot. It offers excellent speed, stable handling, and more storage slots than the minibike or bicycle. Additionally, the minibike’s speed is sufficiently fast to outrun Blood Moon hordes. Doing so makes it the ideal escape tool when abandoning overrun bases.
Stats
  • Storage Slots: 36
  • Vehicle Speed: 14 blocks per second
  • Vehicle Sprint Speed: 14 blocks per second
  • Seats: 1
  • Armor Rating: 90
  • Mod Slots: 4
  • Durability: 4,000
4x4 Truck
7 Days to Die 4x4 Truck
  • How to Craft: Use 4x Wheel, 1x 4x4 Truck Chassis, 1x 4x4 Truck Accessories, 1x Engine, and 1x Lead Car Battery at the Workbench.
For players who value storage more than speed, the 4x4 truck is the answer to that concern. With the largest number of storage slots for any drivable vehicle in 7 Days to Die, it’s essential for multi-POI loot runs and base relocation excursions. Remember, the 4x4 truck has a wider turning radius, higher fuel consumption, and less stable handling than other vehicles. So, it’s ideal to use this vehicle only for heavy hauls and not for nimble escapes.
Stats
  • Storage Slots: 81
  • Vehicle Speed: 14 blocks per second
  • Vehicle Sprint Speed: 14 blocks per second
  • Seats: 4
  • Armor Rating: 90
  • Mod Slots: 5
  • Durability: 8,000
Gyrocopter
7 Days to Die Gyrocopter
  • How to Craft: Use 3x Wheel, 1x Gyrocopter Chassis, 1x Gyrocopter Accessories, 1x Engine, and 1x Lead Car Battery at the Workbench.
The gyrocopter is the ultimate prize for any survivor who maxes out their Grease Monkey perk. This flying vehicle bypasses all terrain and renders all zombie hordes, particularly those that were once human, irrelevant. Nonetheless, operating the gyrocopter may not be as straightforward as the drivable land vehicles in 7 Days to Die. It comes with a steep learning curve, requiring players to master precise takeoff and landing procedures for safe air travel.
Stats
  • Storage Slots: 45
  • Vehicle Speed: 15 blocks per second
  • Vehicle Sprint Speed: 15 blocks per second
  • Seats: 2
  • Armor Rating: 90
  • Mod Slots: 5
  • Durability: 3,500
