Xbox Developer Direct has come to a close, but among its many exciting announcements, we got Minecraft Legends updates! Today we explore the Minecraft Legends release date, new PVP details, and exciting gameplay reveals.

Minecraft Legends will be released on the Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, Windows, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation, Steam, and Nintendo Switch April 18, 2023. In other words, Minecraft Legends is almost here!

Minecraft Legends PVP

The bulk of the content revealed during the developer direct revolved around PVP, which means player versus player. In Minecraft Legends, two teams of four will face off in a randomly generated world with the goal of conquering the other players’ base. While this sounds simple in design, the many ways players can attack and defend cause entirely new confrontations each and every time. Methods such as massive armies, ranged artillery, and forward bases assuming you have the supplies. While this is occurring, the piglin invasion is still very much ongoing. During fights, a third-party confrontation may throw strategies into disarray or even turn enemies into allies until the threat is at bay.

Our Thoughts

Minecraft Legends takes the gathering, building, and exploration aspects that Minecraft is known for and combines them with a real-time strategy game. While we can’t claim it to be successful without having played, the gameplay reveals show a ton of potential. The explorer-focused player can gather resources and scout, the builder can make a base that will keep the enemies out, and the PVP carry can lead the army. Everyone is able to focus on a style of play they like, and each is just as important. Catering to a broad audience should leave Mojang with a large casual playerbase once the game comes out. As for pro play, we will have to wait and see, but the potential is there. Perhaps a new ESport will be joining the scene?
