How to Build a Flag Pole in DayZ

Building a Flag Pole in DayZ requires zombie apocalypse survivors to gather various items. These items are the following:

• 10x Log
• 32x Large Stone
• 60x Nail
• 3x Short Stick
• 2x Rope
• 1x Metal Wire
• 1x Flag
• Sledgehammer
• Pickaxe or Shovel
• Hatchet or Hammer

Out of the different items to build the Flag Pole, the Flag is arguably the most difficult to obtain. It’s a non-craftable item that only spawns in certain locations, such as the following:

• General Stores
• Pubs
• Schools
• Offices
• City Halls
• Abandoned buses and 4x4 vehicles

Tip: Try to build the Flag Pole in the daytime to prevent zombies from ganging up during the construction process.

Flag Pole Construction & Usage

After gathering the necessary items and tools, it’s time to build your Flag Pole in DayZ. You’ll find the steps to make and place this item below:

Step #1: Craft and Deploy the Flag Pole Kit

Start this procedure by combining the 3x Short Stick with the 1x Metal Rope. If successful, you’ll obtain a Flag Pole Kit. Hold the Flag Pole Kit in your hands and find a suitable location for the Flag Pole’s base in your headquarters. The Flag Pole’s base should be on reasonably flat terrain. Otherwise, the game won’t let you place the item. Place 1x Log at the location of the placed Flag Pole Kit, and proceed to the next step.

Step #2: Build the Flag Pole Base

Next, place and drop 6x Log and 32x Large Stone within the Flag Pole base’s vicinity. You can also deliver the items to the base individually, albeit the task will take longer to complete. Then, walk to the Flag Pole base and open your inventory. Place the 6x Log and 32x Large Stone into the Flag Pole base’s section. Once placed, use your Pickaxe or Shovel and hold the action button to complete the construction of the Flag Pole base.

Step #3: Hoist the Flag

Bring 3x Log to the completed support. Then, open your inventory while near the Flag Pole base. Place the 1x Rope, 1x Metal Wire, and 60x Nail to the Flag Pole base section afterward. Once finished, exit your inventory and equip a Hatchet or Hammer in your hands. Hold the action button while pointing at the Flag Pole base to build the Flag Pole. Finally, place the 1x Flag into the completed Flag Pole. Press and hold the action button again to house the Flag. Introduced in Patch 1.09.153337, the Flag and the Flag Pole prevent all items in a 60-meter radius from despawning. This functional item also refreshes all lifetime values of all items within its functional radius.
