While the bosses in Valheim instill fear in the hearts of Vikings, some creatures inspire panic when nearby. One notable entity is the Deathsquito, a “tiny” predator that haunts the Plains and strikes with devastating force. What is the Deathsquito in Valheim

As its name implies, the Deathsquito is a flying insect that aggressively attacks any nearby Viking. Its speed and sudden lunges make it dangerous when players are distracted or exploring terrain. Even though it has one of the lowest maximum health pools in Valheim, the Deathsquito’s habit of flying away after hitting you makes it a cumbersome opponent. The distinct buzzing sound is enough reason for any player to be on their guard.

Deathsquito Location: Where to Find It?

The Plains is the Deathsquito’s home biome. Unlike the Vile, which only spawns at night, this insect isn’t picky about the time of day before stinging players. Despite its natural home being in the Plains, some players in Valheim servers may find it in other biomes like the Meadows, albeit only with fairly low chances.

How to Defeat the Deathsquito

If you’re confident with your accuracy, use a bow to strike down a Deathsquito from afar before it can reach you. One well-placed arrow is enough to bring it down. Charge your bow, follow the Deathsquito’s flight path, and predict when it’s about to commit to a lunge before releasing your arrow. Melee combat also works when dealing with a Deathsquito. Start by raising a shield, then block or parry the sting, and immediately counter-attack. Alternatively, dodge roll if you’re wielding a two-handed weapon.

Deathsquito Loot & Rewards

The Deathsquito only drops two items upon death: the Needle and the Deathsquito Trophy. The latter is a decorative item for your base. On the other hand, consider farming Needles from Deathsquitoes to craft Needle Arrows and the Porcupine, a one-handed club that deals Blunt and Pierce damage to hit enemies.
