What are the Fastest Dinos on Land in ARK: Survival Evolved?

When addressing speed in ARK: Survival Evolved, it's important to clarify what we're measuring. Note that movement speed can vary based on the creature’s design, as several aquatic creatures are faster in the water than dinosaurs on land, and there are plenty of creatures that fly much faster than dinos walk. Ignoring these, the following list will look at the fastest dinos in ARK based on their base walking speeds on land as a general rule.

#5 - Yutyrannus

Also called the Yuty, the Yutyrannus has a similar appearance to the Tyrannosaurus rex. But a second glance will prove otherwise. Don’t mistake the Yuty’s feathered design as a sign of friendliness. Make that error, and you’ll find this dinosaur charging you with its 700 base speed. And it isn't particularly friendly.

#4 - Alpha Raptor

Many survivors may outrun an ordinary Raptor. But its Alpha variant’s base walking speed is no laughing matter. With a base movement speed stat of 909.5, this rare dinosaur will almost immediately run to its prey at first sight. This dino also hits harder than its regular variant, making it a force to be reckoned with for unaware travelers.

#3 - Brute X-Spino

ARK players can only encounter the Brute X-Spino during the Spy Vs. Spino mission on the Genesis: Part 1 expansion DLC. This dinosaur may look docile at first. But any survivor that comes close to it will be in a world of hurt. And escaping this dinosaur is more challenging than running from other creatures, with its massive base walking speed of 1,000.

#2 - Gallimimus

Unlike the other dinos in this list, the Gallimimus has a skittish temperament. It’ll even run away from any hunter it sees, including your character. This makes it tough to kill or tame, along wit its fast walking speed of 1,100. To get up close, you'll need to be extremely sneaky or creative.

The DodoRex only appears during certain events, like ARK: Fear Evolved, and as a summoned creature from some missions on the Genesis: Part 2 DLC. But take this unique dinosaur lightly, and you might find your character at death’s door. Attempt to escape, and it’ll chase you with its blazingly fast 1,300 base movement speed. With that speed, the DodoRex is the fastest dino in ARK.
