How to Gather Armadillo Scute

Wolf armor is crafted using six armadillo scute on the crafting table, making our first step finding armadillos! They are thankfully quite common in Savanna and Badlands biomes. Once one or two armadillos are found, they will passively drop an armadillo scute every five to ten minutes. However, the process can also be sped up by brushing armadillos with the brush tool.

Crafting Wolf Armor

Despite Wolf Armor’s appearance suggesting a little bit of leather, it is crafted entirely from armadillo scute. First, place one armadillo scute on the top left corner of a crafting table, then one on each slot of the middle row, and finally one in both the bottom left and right corners. With that, a set of wolf armor can be crafted!

Minecraft 1.20.5 Wolf Armor Overview

Wolf Armor can be dyed and applied to any tamed wolf a player personally owns. Once worn, the tamed wolf will not take damage from most sources until the wolf armor’s durability is completely depleted. Players can also remove wolf armor early with shears and repair it with armadillo scute while a tamed wolf is still wearing it. Finally, wolf armor becomes visibly damaged as its durability falls, providing a visual cue for the ideal time to repair.

An army of wolves in wolf armor will defeat most unprepared players before they can destroy the wolf armor, let alone damage the wolves.
