Abiotic Factor Version 1.0 brought new features into the underground facility and its surroundings, including the appearance of strange entities. One of these new creatures is a walking storage cube with wobbly legs, aptly called the Moving Box. So, what is it, where can you find it, and how do you use it? We’ll answer these questions in this guide!

What is the Moving Box in Abiotic Factor?

The Moving Box in Abiotic Factor is a strange yet harmless entity. It takes the form of a lumpy, pale storage cube with a pair of fully functional legs. Once seen, players might confuse the Moving Box for a dangerous mimic. However, this wobbly, non-hostile entity follows nearby players, especially when given “treats.” Some players might ask, “What's the point of the Moving Box?” Certain players can call it an otherworldly “pet.” Others can take advantage of this living container as an extra storage unit, particularly with the limited amount of inventory space scientists possess.

Moving Box Location

Unlike the pests in the laboratory, the Moving Box in Abiotic Factor can’t be found in one specific spot. It can show up in random places, but only after progressing through the Flathill area. This walking crate might appear relatively anywhere, including the deeper parts of the facility. It may also show itself while you and other players in the same Abiotic Factor server are completing tasks in the base. As mentioned earlier, the Moving Box follows players. However, sometimes it may decide to go on its own path. If so, dropping items near the sentient container may provoke it to accompany you again.

Moving Box Uses

Abiotic Factor players can use the Moving Box as a helpful, albeit slightly creepy, loot goblin. Despite being unable to directly control it, this container automatically picks up any loose or dropped items it finds on the ground near you. Players can also prevent the Moving Box from picking up random items by filling its storage slots with items. For instance, let the entity hold materials or resources while your character’s main inventory carries weapons and healing items. Simply walk up to the Moving Box and interact with it. Doing so opens the inventory window with a special section on the right that highlights the container’s storage slots. Although quite useful, some players may find the inability to directly control the Moving Box to be annoying. For instance, the creature might block doors and passageways. Additionally, it can wander off if it decides to go on its merry way. So, be careful what you decide to put into this walking storage crate, or else you might regret it.
