RuneScape: Dragonwilds Bows Guide - Every Shortbow, Longbow, Crossbow, Stats, & Crafting Recipes
In RuneScape: Dragonwilds, you have to do plenty of resource gathering and enemy fighting to keep yourself alive. With a bow of any kind, you can pluck a string to fell your food or foes from afar. Before you can start letting arrows fly, you need to craft a spinning wheel and crafting table. This will allow you to craft a basic Ash Shortbow, which will be your first way to start grinding up your Ranged skill as of Update 1.0.
As you continue to grow in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, you'll find that there are three different bow types to choose from in the land of Ashenfall. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses.
Shortbows have shorter draw times, which means you can let arrows fly a whole lot sooner. They allow you to maintain plenty of mobility, and they're best for close or mid-range encounters. Of course, they're not nearly as strong as their counterparts.
With a Longbow, you'll need to be more patient as shots take much longer to fully prepare. However, they deal much more damage than a shortbow. These are the ranged weapon of choice if you're taking on bosses or hungering for a lethal headshot.
Finally, with Crossbows, you only need one hand to fire them. This lets you hold a shield or torch while you shoot enemies. While their base damage isn't astounding, you can use plenty of different bolts to make up for their lower numbers.
No matter which bow type you're using, ensure you're doing all you can to carefully consider the types of bolts and arrows you're using. These will modify your ranged damage, and some can give you elemental effects. The most useful arrows and bolts to use are often tinged with fire or poison.
All Ranged Skill Rewards in RuneScape: Dragonwilds
As you use ranged weapons and attacks of any kind, you will upgrade your Ranged skill. Keep in mind that you will get more experience with the Ranged skill if you use higher-tier weaponry and deal higher amounts of damage.Level 5: Archery Target — Build an archery target to practice your Ranged accuracy against. Shoot the bullseye for a surprise!
Level 8: Trick Shot — After firing a fully drawn arrow, release follow-up shots at exactly the right time for 15% increased damage!
Level 12: Snare — Conjure earth magic at your feet and lay a trap for your enemies! Those caught inside become rooted in place for a short time.
Level 15: Toxic Behaviour — Unlocks the recipe for weapon poison, which can be used to imbue melee weapons with Poison or to craft Poisonous arrows.
Level 18: Hunter's Sense — Crouch for a short time to activate your Hunter's Sense, allowing you to sense nearby creatures and enemies.
Level 22: Make 'Em Bleed — Unlocks the recipe for weapon barbs, which can be used to imbue melee weapons with Bleed or to craft Barbed arrows.
Level 25: Spectral Arrows — Enchant your equipped bow with astral magic, causing arrows to penetrate multiple targets.
Level 30: Crossbow Trick Shot — Trick Shot now applies to crossbow weapons. Fire at the right time to instantly finish reloading and ready your next shot!
Level 35: Enchanted Crossbow Bolts — Unlocks the ability to craft Enchanted Crossbow Bolts. Enchanted bolts have a chance of triggering unique magical effects when fired!
Level 40: Venomous Trapper — The Snare Trap now triggers a cloud of poison when activated, causing enemies stuck inside it to become poisoned over time.
Level 45: Fire Starter — Unlocks the fire oil and fire arrows recipes, giving you new ways to burn your enemies to ash!
Level 60: Lucky Bolts — Increases the chance for enchanted crossbow bolts to trigger their magical effects.
Level 99: Ranged Skillcape — Unlocks the ability to wear and create the Ranged skillcape and its trimmed variant at the crafting table.
