The glare is a floating leafy bush with two large eyes hidden inside. If it had won the 2021 mob vote, this nifty creature would have altered players when light levels were low enough for mobs to spawn by getting a little grumpy. Some speculated that it would have also assisted in lighting up those dark areas, but such a feature was never confirmed. Ultimately, the glare went on to lose the mob vote with only 11.2% of the vote, but that was not entirely due to a lack of interest in the mob.

Mob Vote 2021

Mob Vote 2021 was one of the most contested mob votes to ever occur due to it containing two highly desired mobs with very unique features. During round one, allay won with 51% of the votes while copper golem came second with 37.8%. The glare, meanwhile, was left behind with 11.2%. Many players loved the design, but it simply didn’t offer anything remotely as useful or unique as the allay or copper golem. In another mob vote, the glare likely would have done a lot better.

Will the Glare Be Coming to Minecraft?

With the addition of copper golems in the latest Minecraft Preview, all old mob vote mobs are on the table. Some fans even speculate that the recent copper announcement video foreshadows the glare at the very end. Whether that is actually true, we will have to wait and see, however. But, if glares were to return, we suspect they would get a feature update like the copper golem. Some players think this will be the ability to light up dark areas by placing torches, which would indeed be useful. Being a bush, they could possibly even incorporate fireflies and have glares use those to temporarily illuminate areas. There truly are many possibilities for it. Hopefully, the glare gets its chance to shine.
