This gentle philosopher of the wilderness seeks a simple life and finds peace in nature's quiet embrace. Linus connects to his surroundings instinctively, valuing tranquility even as he witnesses a humble farmer tending late-night crops, which he views with gentle admiration. Although he feels the sting of being an outcast, Linus yearns for quiet acceptance. Players who befriend this NPC discover a profound loyalty. Become his guiding spirit to receive a relationship unlike that of other Pelican Town villagers.

Preferred Gifts of Linus in Stardew Valley

As with other Stardew Valley NPCs, it's possible to gift Linus twice per week. The only exception is on his birthday in Winter 3, where players can give him another present. Do so to receive an 8x boost to his friendship level from the item you give him. Additionally, watch out for the following replies when presenting Linus with an item to gauge if he loves, likes, dislikes, or hates the gift:

• Love: “This is wonderful! You've really made my day special.”

Linus’s Heart Events

Despite Linus not being one of the marriageable candidates in Stardew Valley, he has more Heart Events than other NPCs, especially when compared to the likes of Vincent. With that, players can experience four of Linus’s Heart Events, which are the following:

Three-Heart Event

Linus sends the recipe for Sashimi through the mail. Receiving it completes this straightforward Heart Event.

Four-Heart Event

Travel to the mountain area near Linus’s tent between 8 PM and 12 AM any day, as long as it’s not raining, upon achieving four hearts with this NPC’s relationship level. Meeting the conditions triggers a cutscene, wherein Linus invites you to his campsite. Here, he’ll apologize for his rude behavior. Linus gives you the crafting recipe for Wild Bait as an apology and a gesture of gratitude for being a good friend.

Seven-Heart Event

Once again, Linus sends a recipe in the mail. This time, it’s for preparing Fish Tacos. Again, receive the blueprint to complete this Heart Event.

Eight-Heart Event

The final Heart Event has been added included in Update 1.3.27. Start by traveling to Robin’s house any day between 9 AM and 5 PM, as long as it’s not raining. Then, exit the carpenter’s home to trigger a cutscene with Linus. Continue the conversation with Linus and Robin, until you’re presented with two on-screen options:

• +250 Friendship: “I’m just pleased that Linus is doing well…”
• No Effect: I’d like to invite Linus to live on the farm with me….
