Rimworld Odyssey Release Date

According to the expansion’s official announcement, Rimworld Odyssey will be released on July 11, 2025. The expansion brings new content, features, systems, and improvements to Rimworld’s core gameplay. Additionally, Update 1.6 will be released on the same day and comes as a free patch. Not to be confused with the Odyssey Expansion, Update 1.6 will still enhance the game’s various elements, including performance enhancements, quality of life changes, and more!

Explore the Planet (and Beyond) on Your Own Gravship

Let your colonists say goodbye to those long walks across far distances with your own Gravship. Explore the planet, land relatively anywhere, and hunt treasures. Start with a small airship, and expand it to a mobile colony over time. Enhance your Gravship by collecting Gravcores from various locations. With the Rimworld Odyssey Expansion, it's your colonists' time to live as nomads, create a floating zoo, or survive in space. It also means that players can navigate their Gravships beyond the atmosphere. Doing so lets you explore asteroids, satellites, and wrecked platforms while avoiding rival scavengers. However, staying in space has its distinct challenges, such as managing oxygen levels and dealing with lurking mechanoids.

New Biomes and Landmarks to Explore

Odyssey introduces an array of new and diverse biomes, elevating gameplay and emphasizing the importance of location. For instance, travel to the Glowforest to marvel at the bioluminescent fungi thriving in darkness. Alternatively, visit the Scarlands and try to survive its war-ravaged cities filled with toxic rain and dangerous mutants. Perhaps you savor the sights and sounds of a peaceful biome. If so, the lush Grasslands offer agricultural potential. However, don’t be too complacent, as threats like droughts and wildfires still exist if you plan to settle in this biome. Joining these biomes are the Glacial Plains and Lava Fields, which deliver severe temperature spikes that aren't for the faint of heart. Thankfully, players can find and/or build protective shelters to reduce the impact of these harsh environments on their colonists. Apart from the new biomes, Rimworld Odyssey also introduces a new landmark system, diversifying each location and making them unique. These landmarks include cliffs, valleys, islands, and abandoned colonies.

New Wildlife Species

Release your inner zoologist with over 40 new wildlife species from Rimworld Odyssey. These new creatures can be tamed, trained, traded, and perhaps more often, consumed. Your colonists start with crows, which can evolve into exotic birds. Players can also let the captured wildlife learn skills, enhancing their utility and cuteness. For example, having cats and dogs in colonies can help uplift moods. Alternatively, let your colonists’ pets join them in hunts, increasing their survivability. Players will also be able to fish. Find and catch fish in different biomes and bodies of water. Your catch of the day may consist of salmon, tuna, or a strange being living in the ocean depths.

New Quests, Weapons, Traps, & Enemies

Take on new quests in Rimworld Odyssey. Your caravan will be able to go on new adventures, such as tracking mythical creatures, raiding ancient crypts, and scavenging abandoned platforms in orbit. Remember, various threats are lying in wait while your colonists are trying to complete these missions. Thankfully, colonists can arm themselves with new weapons, such as shotguns and AI-assisted rifles. Take advantage of the gear to deal with threats like sentries, mechanoids, and the insect hive queen.
