RimWorld has evolved plenty since its original release, including major new features added in several DLC packs over the years. These DLCs include anything from new systems for theology, nobility, and tech to new enemies and colony events. Here, we'll cover every RimWorld DLC, including their price, release date, and the new features they offer for gameplay.

All DLCs in RimWorld

Currently, RimWorld has four DLCs that add many new content and features to the game: Royalty, Ideology, Biotech, and Anomaly.

Royalty

Release Date: February 24, 2020 Price: $19.99 The Royalty DLC in RimWorld adds a new ultratech faction called the Empire. Choose to befriend this group to take advantage of their powerful empire soldiers, each equipped with a death acidifier. On the other hand, these soldiers can become your worst enemies should you choose to betray the faction. The new faction also includes a new Title feature, wherein players increase in ranks through progression and by completing different tasks. Your colonists must gain honor as they accomplish objectives, which will unlock certain rewards. However, some colonists with high nobility may become greedy, jealous, or conceited. Moving forward, the RimWorld Royalty DLC can grant your colonists psychic abilities called psycasting. These psionic abilities can vary, ranging from teleportation to mind control. Alternatively, colonists can fight threats using new high-tech gear, especially when dealing with the hostile mech clusters included in the DLC. Ideology

Release Date: July 20, 2021 Price: $19.99 Ideology is the next RimWorld DLC released after Royalty. This time, the new content and features focus on various rituals, hunts, belief systems, social roles, and more. As the leader of your colony, your main objective through this DLC is to design your colony’s entire culture. Complete this goal by crafting a religion, which you can define through different aspects and elements, including rituals, sacrifices, and even rave parties. Additionally, you can assign social roles to colonists to help build your religious faction (or cult following). Some colonists can become moral guides or group leaders, depending on your choices. Biotech

Release Date: October 21, 2022 Price: $24.99 With the Biotech DLC in RimWord, it injects a hefty dose of life, metal, and mad science into in-game colonies. This particular DLC expands upon some of the game’s core features and mechanics, particularly children, reproduction, and genetic modification. With the RimWorld Biotech DLC, you can witness the joys (and challenges) of parenthood and family life through an overhead view of your colony. Colonists will be able to bear children naturally or with the help of technology. Then, guide the development of the colony’s little ones by teaching them skills, allowing you to shape their personalities. Biotech also lets colonists embrace the power of technology as they transform into mechanitors. These psionic warriors can command mechanoid armies, which can range from helpful workhands to formidable war machines. Speaking of manipulating colonists, the Biotech DLC also lets you manipulate the genes of your colonists. Transform colonists into genetically enhanced beings called "xenohumans” that possess extraordinary traits, such as superhuman resilience or even fire-breathing techniques. Anomaly

Release Date: April 11, 2024 Price: $24.99 Prepare to scream and shout as horror comes to RimWorld in its 4th DLC, Anomaly. This DLC introduces various mysterious threats to the colony simulation title. At the beginning of the RimWorld Anomaly DLC, players instruct their colonists to activate a dormant monolith. However, doing so awakens a hidden evil, triggering different dangerous entities that only grow fiercer over time. After this event, you must defend your colony against new evils, including flesh beasts and masses of writhing flesh that can spawn near your base. Sometimes, Sightstealers, invisible stalkers, can pick off your colonists when they least expect them. However, it’s not all about the challenges in this DLC. Players can also leave the monolith alone, allowing you and your colony to have a more toned-down version of the events included in the DLC. For instance, let your colonists embrace relatively peaceful ideologies, such as embracing the machine god, which is also the cause behind these cosmic horrors.
