Necesse, a fascinating mix of strategic planning and enduring challenges, provides a one-of-a-kind and engaging gaming adventure. As a beginner, the game surrounds you in a realm full of limitless opportunities. From creating complex tools to fighting dangerous creatures, each moment brings fresh challenges and benefits. So, read this Necesse Beginner’s Guide to the end to kick-start your journey and build the ultimate settlement.

Necesse Beginner’s Guide: Getting Started

Necesse Beginner's Guide This Necesse Beginner’s Guide covers elements that aren’t typically found in other similar 2D pixel art adventure sandbox titles. It also means this guide won’t cover some features and systems deemed common in other games, such as crafting and basic combat.

Necesse Difficulty Modes Necesse offers five difficulty settings to cater to various players. Select the ideal difficulty mode based on your preferred playstyle.

  • Effects: Significantly increased damage taken, boss health, and knockback given, and increased enemy spawn rate and raider damage.

World Settings

Necesse World Settings Apart from the different difficulty modes, new players can also tweak some settings before creating world seeds. The settings you can change are the following:
  • Death penalty: No penalty, drop materials, drop main inventory, drop full inventory, or hardcore (permadeath)
  • Raid frequency: Often, occasionally, rarely, or never
  • Toggle Survival Mode: When turned on, food spoils, players die of hunger, and settlers leave if they’re hungry for too long.
  • Spawn settings: Enable custom spawn seeds and toggle if guide house spawns
  • Advanced settings: Modifies day and night time

Hunger

Necesse Hunger After creating the world map, you should spawn next to the house of Glenn the Elder. Now, you must take on various challenges to survive, including hunger. Your character’s hunger levels decrease over time. Additionally, you’ll become hungrier while doing certain actions, such as moving, fighting, or working. A Hungry debuff appears when your character’s hunger level reaches 5%. At this point, natural health regeneration is disabled. Then, your character receives the Starving debuff when hunger reaches 0%. If so, additional effects appear particularly a 25% movement speed reduction. Also, health gradually decreases when your character is starving. Failure to remedy this situation can result in death.

Inviting NPCs

Necesse NPCs Explore Necesse’s enormous map to find NPCs you can invite to your settlement. Some settlers allow trading for equipment and other valuable items. On the other hand, some NPCs can help you complete tasks such as crafting, farming, and hunting. Note that most NPCs can be hired by giving coins and certain items. Alternatively, some potential settlers can only be invited by completing specific conditions, such as defeating bosses. Remember, keep the settlers safe from harm. NPCs that die from hostile NPCs, especially during raids, won’t respawn. However, you can give armor and weapons to settlers to increase their chances of survival.

Raids

Necesse Raiders If you think that your settlement is a safe haven, think again. Sometimes, raiders notice your bustling town and decide to take your items by force. Raiders are formidable enemies that launch attacks on settlements during Raid Events. Defend against these enemies as they’re equipped with varying gear based on progress in the Elder's quest. Subsequent raid difficulty is influenced by previous raid success, with raid frequency determined by settler count. Settlement boss quests can reduce raid cooldown times. If the raiders are successful in killing settlers, they will move on and attack more settlers. On the other hand, killing raiders yields coins, weapons, or armor.

Enchantments

Necesse Enchantments It can be dangerous to take on Necesse’s dangers with nothing but the Wooden Sword you have at the beginning of the game. Thankfully, you can enchant various items, including gear and tools, to boost their effects. Note that you must invite the Mage to your settlement to enchant items in Necesse. Many enchantment options exist, including enhancements to attack speed, critical hit chance, resilience, and mana regen.

Wiring

Necesse Wiring Wiring allows players to connect objects like traps, doors, and lighting to create automated circuits for various purposes. Using tools like a Wrench and Cutter, players can place and remove wires and logic gates. Switches, such as Pressure Plates and Rock Levers, activate circuits, while logic gates control signal flow. Plan your settlement’s circuit network to ensure the community fulfills the necessary power requirements. Sufficient wire planning can also lead to defensive masterpieces, preventing raiders from entering the town, which would otherwise lead to settler death.

Exploration

Necesse Exploration Necesse’s world map is generally divided into several islands. With that, exploring the game’s various biomes and mini-biomes demands using a boat. The first boat you can craft is a Wood Boat, which you can make using 8x Any Log from your inventory.

Multiplayer

Necesse Multiplayer Do you need help completing a particular dungeon? Perhaps additional hands are needed in your settlement to get work done. If so, you can host a Necesse dedicated server to let online friends help you in completing tasks! Each server can cater to about 250 players. However, consider limiting the number of players to five for optimal gaming experience.
