Release Date

At this time, the Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord War Sails expansion is scheduled to release in Fall 2025. We don't yet have an exact release date, but we know it will arrive on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, GoG, and Xbox and PlayStation on the same day. New Features

New Towns Of course, the biggest news coming with the War Sails expansion is the arrival of the Nords faction. With this new group of warriors, you'll have access to four new Nordic towns:

• Hargard
• Thronderlag
• Gretysfjord
• Hvalvik

Each one lies in a unique and strategic position steeped in the game's lore. For example, the previously existing factions of Sturgia and Vlandia meet with the Nords in the rocky land of Hargard on the Jumne River. Players eager to play as the Nords must either form firm alliances with the Sturgia and Vlandians or crush them. New Building Types Along with these cities, plenty of new buildings dot the northern landscape. Longhouses, for instance, serve as homes, areas for council halls, and places of work for shipwrights and others. Naturally, real-world Nords and Viking history heavily inspired each new building and fief to create a more immersive and authentic experience for players. New Battlefields When you're not in town, you'll be duking it out on massive battlefields throughout the northern frontier. These rugged cliffs and jagged terrain should offer a unique approach to large-scale battles. Here, you can expect your Nords to rush to meet their foes with new weaponry. Long axes, spears, javelins, throwing axes, straight-edged swords, and more. Naturally, they'll be wearing Nordic armor such as tough leather and mail shirts, padded coats, and cloaks for the most severe weather. New Troop Type One of the biggest additions to combat is the arrival of an entirely new troop type: Mariners. The devs describe these units as necessary due to the arrival of naval battles. If you're fighting on the water, you'll need soldiers who know what they're doing. For the Nords, all of their units are mariners. Whether Nords are battling on land or sea, they'll be ready. However, the lighter armor mariners use makes them much less effective against heavily armed troops. As your Nords are sailing along the seas, remember that you're not the only ones on the seas. Pirates will also sail the waters, and they can ravage your supplies and troops. New Character Customization and Creation Options Finally, with a new faction also comes the ability to create a new character with a new culture. This includes new hairstyles, beards, tattoos, and character customization options. You'll have Nordic culture woven into your character's history and tradition, which will influence your decisions along your playthrough. As with every other faction in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, you can win cultural tournaments to earn rewards specific to the Nords. Naturally, as you would expect from the game with Bannerlord in its title, you'll also be able to earn plenty of Nord-specific banners to decorate your legions.
