What is the Vibrant Visuals Update?

The Minecraft Vibrant Visuals update is an optional graphics update for Minecraft with the stated goal of providing a new look while staying true to Minecraft’s creative principles. Those that enable it will experience Minecraft with dynamic shadows and lighting, updated textures that glow for mob eyes, sculk, and glow berries, and updated water that even reflects sunlight. Additionally, Vibrant Visuals will be entirely local, allowing it to be used as desired both in single-player and online. All in all, the update will bring Minecraft’s visual graphics into modern era, providing shaders to vanilla Minecraft without need for modding for the very first time. Some specific highlights showcased during Minecraft Live 2025 included light passing through glass windows, pixel-perfect shadows that don’t break immersion, and light passing through water to the shallow seabed beneath.

Minecraft Vibrant Visuals Release Date

The Minecraft Vibrant Visuals release date has not yet been shared publicly. However, Game Director Agnes Larsson gave an estimate of “a few months” for its release on Minecraft Bedrock Edition. In the meantime, Mojang has stated that we can expect to see the update very soon in Minecraft Bedrock Edition Preview. All Confirmed Platforms

As of the writing of this article, Minecraft Vibrant Visuals is confirmed to be coming to “all compatible” Bedrock Edition devices. What those devices actually are was not specified, however. Until the official release, select Bedrock devices will have Vibrant Visuals available for testing. The devices have again not yet been specified, but it is very likely that any such testing would include PC. For Java Edition players, the same update is confirmed for down the line, but per the developers’ own words, it will take time.
