So, you've finished all of the story content that Dune: Awakening has to offer. You've been all over Arrakis, and you're basically one of the Fremen. Now, it's time for the endgame: the Deep Desert. This is the go-to destination for anyone hoping to find the best loot that the game has to offer. With our Dune: Awakening Deep Desert guide, we'll show you how to find the massive area, how it works, and more.

What is the Deep Desert in Dune: Awakening?

Dune: Awakening Sandworm screenshot The Deep Desert is the big, scary endgame activity for Dune: Awakening. It's an absolutely enormous stretch of sand that you'll have to explore carefully, as it is filled with challenging points of interest, storms, and, of course, sandworms. But for these risks, there are some massive rewards in this area. It is the primary source for Tier 6 materials, endgame schematics, and the highest value spice farming opportunities. The Deep Desert itself is slightly randomized. It resets each week thanks to Coriolis Storms that ravage the area. When these come in, they'll reset the locations of bases, vehicles, items, resource nodes, and basically everything else. However, it's not true procedural generation. Each week, the map is pulled from a predetermined pool. So, eventually, you might notice some points of interest repeating. However, there are so many maps that the randomized map-swapping can pull from that you won't always know what you're going into each week.

What to Bring into the Deep Desert

Dune: Awakening Deep Desert screenshot Before you can ever enter the Deep Desert, you'll need access to the World Map. This is only accessible if you have an ornithopter. So long as you have that, you can head into the Deep Desert. Of course, you'll need to make sure you have a few supplies and some good gear before you go in. We also recommend being roughly level 100. Any lower, and things will be tougher. You'll also want the highest level gear you can muster. Gear around tier 5 should be fine, but tier 6 armor and weaponry are what you want to aim for. Naturally, there's more to it than that. As a survival game, you should also make sure you go into the Deep Desert with plenty of water. This region is at a blazing Heat Level 5. As a result, make sure you're fully hydrated before venturing out. That should mean you don't need to rely as much on the extra water you bring. Though you should definitely bring multiple Literjons of water to keep you going. Additionally, ensure you've got some Medium Vehicle Fuel Cells to power any mode of transportation you manage to find. The Deep Desert is massive, and you won't want to explore it on foot if you can avoid it. A Respawn Beacon, Welding Torch, or Stilltents can also be useful to give yourself a few extra moments to stay alive.

Deep Desert Instances, Loot, & How to Complete

Dune: Awakening Deep Desert screenshot There are two different instances of the Deep Desert that you can join: PvE & PvP. You'll choose which one you want to enter on the game's menu before hopping in, but there are differences between the two. The deep desert map and its points of interest are the same each week. However, yields from mining spots and spice harvesting are 250% higher in the PvP Deep Desert than in the PvE Deep Desert. So, technically, you can get some much larger payouts from entering the PvP version of the map. However, you'll have to deal with the very dangerous truth of other enemy players. If you're beaten by any threat other than a sandworm (including other players), you'll drop your inventory. You can always try to rush back to claim what you've lost, but if it's a player, they'll likely loot your corpse. Meanwhile, if you're eaten by a sandworm, everything you had on your person will be lost forever. As far as the loot that you can gather and potentially lose, the Deep Desert offers the following scattered across various points of interest:
  • Titanium Ore
  • Stravidium Mass
  • Unique Schematics
  • Spice-infused Ingots
  • Enormous amounts of Spice
As stated above, you'll find most of these collectibles scattered around the map. However, some of the biggest loot hauls you can find are in the Deep Desert Wrecks and Testing Stations. These are rough and tumble dungeons that will really push your combat expertise. They'll have various forms of enemy waves to clear before you can grab your reward. If you're playing on a PvP Deep Desert, be aware that other players might run in and steal your hard-earned progress.
