In space, no one can hear you scream, but there are still plenty of folks to meet! Avorion is filled with different factions that stretch across huge portions of the galaxy. Some might be easier to get along with than others, and knowing how to interact with each one can be tricky. Luckily, we've got all the info you need right here with our Avorion faction guide.

Avorion Factions: Everything You Need to Know

In Avorion, factions are enormous and unified groups that control different portions of space. They can vary in size, but they'll often control similar assets such as fleets of ships, space stations, or even asteroids. There is a small handful of ways players can interact with factions, but the first thing you should know is there are loads of factions. In fact, there are so many unique factions in a single Avorion galaxy that you'd likely have to spend hundreds of hours to meet the hundreds of factions. So, when it comes to meeting factions, you'll want to focus on those you directly come into contact with on your travels.

Diplomacy

To interact with any faction, you'll have to make contact with them via their ships or stations. From the moment you first meet a faction, you'll begin affecting your relations with them. Their initial attitude toward you can be wildly different, thanks to the game's procedural generation. So, on occasion, it's possible you could run into a faction that's immediately hostile. If that happens, it's best to get away quickly since improving relations with hostile factions is tough. Luckily, it's much easier to improve your standing with neutral or friendly factions. Buying or selling resources, ships, or asteroids that you've claimed are all great ways of turning factions into allies. However, the biggest boost to your relations with intergalactic friends is by helping them fend off attack from rival factions or stray pirates. These chance encounters are invaluable to increasing relations. Of course, keep in mind that attacking a rival faction will decrease your standing with said rival faction. As far as worsening relations, any form of violence will be immediately frowned upon and greatly decrease your standing. Mining specific asteroids or salvaging faction-controlled junk can also decrease your standing unless you've gone through the proper channels for a mining or salvaging license. Finally, you can also be dinged for smuggling if a faction's frigate scans your ship and you refuse to cooperate. While it is possible to turn around a faction's negative feelings toward you, it's very hard to do without getting shot. Additionally, you can reach a point of no return where nothing you do can improve a faction's feelings toward you. Yikes!

Faction Traits

Each randomly generated faction in Avorion also comes with randomly generated traits.
