The A Minecraft Movie 2 release date is confirmed to be July 23, 2027. The announcement came earlier today via the official Minecraft X, formerly Twitter, account, with simultaneous announcements across Minecraft’s other social media accounts. There is not yet any word on when the first trailer will be available, however.

Potential Cast Members for A Minecraft Movie 2

As of writing this article, no cast members are confirmed to be returning for a Minecraft Movie 2. But we can likely expect to see Jack Black as Steve at the very least. It also would not be surprising to see the other main cast members return in at least some capacity, including Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen. The main mystery, however, is who will be playing Minecraft Alex, shown only briefly in the after-credits scene at the end of A Minecraft Movie. Her cameo was uncredited, with no shots of her face, leaving the spot open for a potential big name to take up the role.

Plot

A Minecraft Movie only touched on the many places and creatures Minecraft has to offer, leaving an abundance of room for more stories to tell. But we believe the most likely story is something to do with the End due to foreshadowing in the first film. It is only one scene with an Enderman and Henry, but it is one that fans adored and potentially hinted at so much more. Reception like that would not be overlooked. Another idea is that the antagonist will be someone from the real world who makes their way into the Overworld. There, they see the potential power and profits they could gain, similar to Garret in the first film, and attempt to harness it for themselves. This could then lead to them attempting to capture or release the Ender Dragon, prompting the heroes to return and save the day. But this is ultimately all conjecture, so we will just have to wait and see once we get more official confirmations - including the film's first trailer!
