Sniffers are not exactly easy to find, but they are still very much worth the effort and time! So, today, we answer how to find sniffer eggs in Minecraft 1.21 in record time.

Step 1: Craft a Brush

The first step to finding a sniffer is crafting a brush! This nifty tool was added in Minecraft 1.20 alongside archeology, a feature we will be diving into to find the sniffer. To craft a brush, first place a feather on the middle slot of a crafting table’s top row. Next, place a copper ingot directly in the middle. And last, place a stick in the middle of the bottom row. The brush should now be complete!

Step 2: Warm Ocean Biome

Plenty of biomes reside within the ocean, but to find a sniffer, a warm ocean will be required. These ocean types most commonly generate next to desert and badlands biomes and have a distinctive aquamarine tone to the water. However, the most common indicator is the presence of coral reefs.

Step 3: Ocean Ruins

Ocean ruins are stone brick or sandstone structures generated within oceans and very rarely on beaches. For sniffer eggs, one will need to find the sandstone variant within a warm ocean biome. Luck plays a strong part here, but even if the search is long, don’t give up!

Step 4, Archeology

Once ocean ruins within a warm ocean biome have been found, swim down and search for suspicious sand around its base. These blocks look very similar to sand but have disturbances that can be described as cracks.

Step 5, The Brush Tool

When a block of suspicious sand has been located, use the brush tool to slowly brush out the item hidden within. On average, fifteen blocks of suspicious sand will need to be brushed before the first sniffer egg is found.
