With the massive new Primitive Update, Rust has introduced tons of new content, all while taking the tech of the game down a notch. This takes away things like rockets, c4, and helicopters, replacing them with siege weapons, swords, and bows instead. Here, we'll cover all of the Rust siege weapons introduced in the Primitive update and how you can craft them to get started on your next invasion!

How to Unlock Siege Weapons in Rust Primitive

Note that the siege weapons are available for Vanilla and Primitive game modes. To make them, players must first reach the Level 2 Workbenches and unlock the crafting recipes for most siege weapons. 500x Metal Fragments, 20x High Quality Metal, and 500x Scrap are needed to complete this task. The only exception to this rule is the Siege Tower, which can be made on the level 1 Workbench. Players can farm Metal Fragments by mining Metal Ores from rocks and then using the Furnace or its larger variant to smelt them. Use this same station for smelting High Quality Metal Ore to get High Quality Metal. As for Scrap, salvage any of the following items at the Recycler to farm this resource:

• Empty Propane Tank
• Metal Blade
• Road Signs
• Metal Pipe
• Sheet Metal
• Metal Spring
• Gears
• Semi Automatic Body
• SMG Body
• Electric Fuse
• Tech Trash
• Rifle Body

Once built, use 300x Scrap at the Workbench to learn random blueprints, which include the crafting recipes for the siege weapons. Note that the blueprints unlocked by this station are random, which may require players to farm significant amounts of Scrap before unlocking all siege weapons in Rust.

Rust Siege Weapons Crafting Recipes

Currently, four siege weapons exist in Rust Primitive: Ballista, Catapult, Siege Tower, and Battering Ram. Below are the crafting recipes for each siege weapon:

• Ballista: 250x Metal Fragments, 2x Gears, 2x Sheet Metal. Setup requires 750x Wood.
• Catapult: 500x Wood, 20x High Quality Metal, 2x Rope, and 2x Gears. Setup requires 1,000x Wood and 250x Frags.
• Siege Tower: 500x Wood, 250x Metal Fragments, and 1x Gear. Setup requires 1,000x Wood.
• Battering Ram: 1,000x High Quality Metal, 500x Wood, 4x Sheet Metal, and 1x Tarp. Setup requires 1,000x Wood and 500x Frags.
