Pyzifax is an optional boss in Romestead. Although you may proceed with the game without going near this enemy’s domain, failing to do so may make village management tougher than normal. Where is the Pyzifax Boss in Romestead?

The location of the Pyzifax boss fight will be shown on the Romestead map after defeating the Guardian of Minerva and offering the Guardian’s Eye at the Altar. The procedural worlds make it nearly impossible to provide specific boss locations. Nonetheless, Pyzifax will always be in a dungeon in the Desert biome. Additionally, players must pass through a fortified Desert Satyr camp filled with automated and enemy-controlled ballistae. This enemy base also has multiple tents that spawn Desert Satyrs infinitely. Deal with the tents and ballistae appropriately, or you’ll quickly be surrounded, overwhelmed, and perhaps even dead before you can reach Pyzifax.

How to Defeat Pyzifax in Romestead

After surviving the onslaught of Desert Satyrs outside, you’ll have a moment’s rest upon entering Pyzifax’s domain. Inside, you’ll find a lone, docile Satyr that’ll give you some lore. Return to camp and restock on health potions, or press on to the next room to reach the arena where Pyzifax resides. Once inside, destroy the banner in the middle of the room to start the boss fight. Like the Guardian of Minerva, this optional Desert battle only has one phase. However, like the game’s first major boss fight, Pyzifax changes attack patterns once his health reaches 50%. At the start of the battle, Pyzifax has the following attacks:

• Sword Slash: Pyzifax brandishes his giant sword and swings it in front.
• Bladestorm: Pyzifax becomes a damaging whirlwind that chases a player around the battlefield. He’ll then become stunned afterward.
• Throw Boulder: Pyzifax grabs a boulder and throws it at a player’s position. The boulder becomes two stones if it hits a player.
• Aerial Slam: Pyzifax jumps into the air and slams his rear at the position of a player. Both the jumping and slamming animations have hit boxes.
• Call Allies: Satyrs from the bleachers jump down into the arena to fight with Pyzifax.
• Throw Ally: Pyzifax picks up a Satyr and throws the creature at a random location.

Once his health reaches 50%, Pyzifax leaps to the back of the arena and becomes unreachable. Then, he’ll send a barrage of projectiles throughout the arena. At this time, Satyrs will throw items at players or will jump down into the arena. Pyzifax returns to the arena after the projectile barrage ends. But this time, he can ignite himself, empowering his current attacks to make them deadlier. In particular, his Aerial Slam attack can leave burning ground that damages any player standing on it. Additionally, his allies continue to pelt players with random items throughout the remainder of the fight. Thankfully, Pyzifax, and his lumbering body, is reasonably slow. Dodging once in the appropriate direction can evade most attacks. Remember, stay mobile, and watch your stamina gauge. Resist the urge to be greedy and attack without moving. Instead, be patient and wait for Pyzifax to end his Bladestorm attack. Then, attack with everything you have while he’s stunned. Alternatively, bring a long-range weapon, like a bow, to deal some damage while you’re evading his strikes. Otherwise, work with other players in a Romestead server to divide Pyzifax’s attention while increasing DPS.

Pyzifax Boss Loot

Defeating Pyzifax in Romestead unlocks the Logistics Tent blueprint. Building this workstation will then unlock automation, allowing players to designate item and resource deliveries between structures. Additionally, the Cape of Pyzifax Banner is a useful item from this boss fight. It takes the Back slot, and it produces damaging blades while the user is dodging. Doing so creates offensive opportunities during defensive moments. Aside from the Logistics Tent and Cape of Pyzifax Banner, defeating this boss also rewards players with the following items:
