Vaults contain plenty of loot to find, but like many others, we just can’t help but wonder what exactly is inside! So, today, we explore the official vault loot tables in our Minecraft 1.21 vault loot tables guide.

Unlocking Vaults

Unlike chests, all players can loot a vault once, assuming they have a trial key. For standard vaults, a regular trial key is required and can be obtained from trial spawners. As for the much rarer ominous vault, an ominous trial key is used instead. Ominous trial keys are obtained exclusively from ominous trial spawners. A transformed variant of trial spawner that only appears upon drinking the contents of an ominous bottle within a trial chamber. But be warned! Ominous trial spawners are much, much harder.

All vaults eject three to six stacks of loot and draw from three loot pools divided into common, rare, and unique. It is not guaranteed that an item from every category will be obtained, and some common items also appear in the rare category, making it possible for them to be rolled twice, exceeding the numbers we have listed above. As for the two categories of enchanted books, we have listed their various possibilities below.

All ominous vaults eject three to six stacks of loot and draw from three loot pools divided into common, rare, and unique. Outside of the items themselves being significantly better and odds for unique loot being far higher, vaults and ominous vaults function nearly identically.
