A frightening new Minecraft video has taken the community by storm! One in which a single mod that seems to know everything eventually demands something in return. So, today, we explore the Verity horror mod and answer “Is the Verity Minecraft Mod Real?”

What is the Minecraft Verity Mod?

Given to ThatMob by a friend over Discord for a modded let’s play, the Verity Mod adds a small yellow smiling ball named Verity that joins the player on their Minecraft adventure. Verity can hold conversations, answer questions, and even ask questions of its own, akin to an AI assistant. However, if unknown conditions are not fulfilled, Verity’s mental state will gradually decline until reaching a point of no return where Verity transforms into a monster and hunts the player relentlessly.

Is the Verity Minecraft Mod Real?

The Verity Mod shown in “Something is Knocking at Your Door...” by ThatMob is more than likely fake. However, modders have since taken up the task to make Verity a reality! A few different renditions have been released, but the most popular so far are:

• Verity BE by Undertaletalelover [Bedrock Edition]
• Verity JE by VarmiteYT [Java Edition]

It is important to remember that while close, neither of these are the Verity seen in the video. They are fan recreations that do their best to provide a similar experience. There is no official Verity available to download.

Is ThatMob’s Verity Real?

The answer is likely no. ThatMob has never shared a Verity Mod publicly, and the only description given by them was that it came from a friend on Discord. While private, custom mods are not unheard of, one of Verity’s caliber would be pushing the limits of not only Minecraft mods but AI as well. Verity holds very human-like discussions, is capable of being deceitful, and can pull from information outside the game, as shown by its knowledge of what ThatMob had for dinner. How Verity functions as an entity within the world would also make it one of the most advanced horror mods out there. It is highly animated with great pathfinding, capable of creating frightening atmospheres through music, and most importantly, it knows how to set up and execute multiple types of compelling jump scares. Verity, at least as shown in ThatMob’s video, simply exceeds what mods are capable of at this time.
