Renown Open Demo Playtest: Start Date & How to Play

You won't have long to wait before trying out the medieval combat of Renown for yourself. The Renown Open Demo Playtest goes live on March 21 at 7PM EST. All you need to do to join in on the fun is download the demo from Steam. As an open playtest, anyone and everyone is invited to stress test the game's servers and get an early look at what RDBK Studios has been working on.

Renown Open Demo Playtest: What to Expect

If you've participated in a Renown demo test before, you can expect some differences this time around. The gathering rate for resources has been increased, the cost for raids has been reduced, and a handful of additional changes have been made in an attempt to make things easier for first-time players. Additionally, the developers have been hard at work on polishing, bug-fixing, and adding additional content. Specifically, Renown has undergone an extensive overhaul of its locomotion animations. Character movement has been redone, but it isn't fully completed. This is a playtest, after all, so it won't be reflective of Renown's final state. However, it's still a great opportunity for interested players to give the game and its mechanics a spin. In the demo, you and your gaming crew can try out all that Renown currently has to offer. You can craft your ideal weapons, customize your character's armor and colors, build up a (hopefully) impregnable fortress, and embark on raids of enemy territory while engaging in skill-based melee combat.

Renown: What Comes Next?

This isn't the first time that RDBK Studios has hosted a Renown playtest, and it might not be the last! There could be one or even two more playtests before the game hits its planned release into early access this July.
