From the Nether to the End, Minecraft Steve is about to venture forth into the unknown once again! Today, we answer, “What is The Sift in Minecraft?” and explore all the confirmed details for this new dimension releasing in 2027.

What is The Sift in Minecraft?

Initially announced for Minecraft Dungeons 2 and later for vanilla Minecraft during Minecraft Live in September 2026, the Sift is a dimension accessed by activating the Deep Dark Portal found in ancient cities. Those who venture beyond are met with a vibrant, soul-rich landscape that strange, spirit-like creatures, such as the Blub, call home. During the time period of Minecraft Dungeons 2, Illagers have ventured here to use the environment to empower themselves. How much the vanilla version of the Sift will differ from the Minecraft Dungeons 2 Sift is still unknown.

Confirmed Vanilla Sift Features

As of September, 2026, only a single reveal has been made for vanilla Minecraft’s version of The Sift. In it, we were shown a landscape similar to that of the Singer’s Meadow biome, but with pink grass, white Sift trees, and the Blub mob. Hopefully we get to see more soon!

Possible Vanilla Sift Features

Minecraft Dungeons includes many environments, structures, and mobs not found in vanilla Minecraft. For this reason, it is unclear how much of the content currently showcased for the Minecraft Dungeons 2 Sift will be available when it is eventually added to vanilla. But one can nonetheless dream!
